About us

A greenhouse farm for tropical produce in Canada

Canadian Ethnic Farms Inc grows organic tropical vegetables, snails and dried fish on 16 acres in East Garafraxa, Ontario — so families, stores and restaurants no longer have to rely on expensive imports.

Who we are

Canada-grown, all season, at fair prices

Federally incorporated on 3 January 2022 under the Canada Corporations Act, Canadian Ethnic Farms Inc operates a greenhouse farm focused on tropical vegetables, snails and dried fish. Our products are sold in their organic form, retaining the nutritional and medicinal value that imported alternatives lose in transit.

The concept came from a simple gap: the vegetables, snails and dried fish at the heart of tropical cooking are almost entirely imported into Canada, expensive, and diminished by long chemical and logistics chains. Greenhouse technology lets us control growing conditions and supply those same crops here in Ontario, in every season.

We serve tropical grocery stores, restaurants and residents across Ontario, with online sales reaching other provinces. Expanding physical presence into further provinces is part of our long-term plan.

Vanessa D. Chukudebev

Founder & Director, Canadian Ethnic Farms Inc

Vanessa is a Business Analyst with a strong background in marketing, communications and customer relations, and brings sharp business-analysis skills to Canadian Ethnic Farms Inc. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master's certificate in Business Analysis, and has worked as a manager and business analyst across several industries.

Growing up in Africa, she had always carried an interest in farming. The pandemic — when food prices skyrocketed around the world — was the moment that interest turned into a venture. She saw, first-hand, how the vegetables, snails and dried fish at the heart of tropical cooking were almost entirely imported into Canada, expensive, and diminished by long logistics chains, and set out to grow those same crops here in Ontario.

It is that combination of commercial discipline and personal conviction that anchors the farm's mission: to establish a leading greenhouse farm that provides quality Canada-grown organic tropical produce at fair prices, year-round.

"There couldn't have been a better time to start this project than this period, when the price of foodstuffs has skyrocketed around the world."
